When the cacophony of life threatens to overtake me.

I step outside.

I feel the sun warm my skin,

and watch the bees nuzzle the lavender blossoms.

Their steady hum washes over me.

I notice errant leaves drifting on the breeze,

And witness how time slows down with attention.

I hear the doings of the orioles as they go about their days,

And find joy in their chatter about lives that lack nothing.

I breathe the same air that kisses the earth,

And feel the sacred rhythm of my own heart.

I remember that I too one of the wild things.

I remember that I too am free.
