I believe that we are created uniquely and on purpose, each with a distinct combination of gifts, strengths, and interests. Our life’s work is to use these up – to be the best possible stewards of our energy, talents, and time while we’re on this planet.
I believe that our dreams are as unique as we are and are handed out to us specifically and that we are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it come true.
I believe we are ALL creative. The creative fire, a spark of the Divine, is alive in every single human being, and shows up in myriad ways – creativity doesn’t just express itself in artistic talent, it shows up in cooking, caregiving, business, conversations, even crime! One of the most powerful gifts we can give ourselves is recognizing our creativity, honoring it, and giving it the attention it deserves.
I believe that, if we don’t feed our creative fire, it feeds on us. This also shows up in myriad ways, from a vague yet nagging sense of discontent to chronic worrying and overthinking, to physical illness and depression.
I believe in signs and synchronicities, miracles, and magic. The Divine is speaking to us all the time, we simply need to open our eyes, ears, and hearts, and be willing to receive the message. I also believe in logic and reason and have a knack for keeping my feet firmly planted on the ground even as my head is surrounded by clouds.
I believe that finding and following our individual life’s path is a feeling exercise, not a thinking one. You can’t analyze your way to your right life, in the same way, that you can’t experience a country by looking at its map. Approaching the process with a sense of curiosity, exploration, and discovery makes ALL the difference.
I believe that despite how things may feel, you are never lost, and you are always on the right path – it’s the one beneath your feet right at this very moment. In the words of Joseph Campbell, “If you can see your path laid out in front of you step by step, you know it’s not your path. Your own path you make with every step you take. That’s why it’s your path.” No matter where you are in your journey, in this moment you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
I believe that there is more to life than “Thinking” and “Doing”. There’s also creating, and feeling, and dreaming, and playing, and exploring, and discovering, and experiencing, and sensing, and pondering, and wondering, learning and growing. It took me a long time to realize this.
I believe that even the most painful experiences have something to teach us if we are willing to be open and look for the lesson. This often means shifting our perspective or seeking wise counsel, but it’s been my experience that if we open ourselves to the lesson, we can always find it.
I believe that you can do hard things. You may do them with trembling knees and a quaver in your voice, but you CAN do them.
I believe you are stronger & more powerful than you can imagine, and more than capable of pulling big, hairy, audacious dreams into reality. I want you to believe this too.
